Hong Kong: My Favorite Dimsum Escape

I come to Hong Kong every year. I love it there. It’s the one of the easiest places to go to and to be alone in just like Singapore. But Hong Kong is unique in its own way. It’s the epitome of what a busy metropolitan city is. I haven’t been to New York or London so Hong Kong is the closest place I can go to for me to experience real city neon lights.

Hong Kong is not as orderly as Singapore. But it is as diverse as a city can be. friendliness and warmth isn’t something that Hong Kong is known for but it’s noisy streets can be charming at times. But what Hong Kong can boast is its charming cityscape and its flea markets!

Here are the places to visit when in Hong Kong.

Victoria Harbour is at it’s best during the holidays because you can watch the Symphony of lights in the middle of the sea. The cruise is about 2 hours long for HK$60.

The Peak – Hong Kong’s most popular attraction, The Peak offers spectacular views over the city, harbour and mountains beyond. We came there at around 6pm and the weather is about 8 degrees and I was wearing a see-through blouse! It was so cold I actually froze! If you want a better view and to experience the hype of going up the mountain top, take the Peak Tram.

Hong Kong Disneyland is a wonderland for children! I didn’t enjoy much coz I’m an extreme ride freak but it was fine. It was a magical place so if you’re an adrenaline junkie, then this is not the place for you.

Ladies’ Market in Tung Choi Street is the place for bags, accessories and inexpensive women’s clothing. Men’s and children’s clothing and toys are also on sale. It starts at around 11am so if you’re an early bird, better check out the mall first before heading out to the flea market.

Temple Street Night Market is of course a night market. It starts at around 4pm so after shopping in the Ladies’ you can continue shopping here.

Food is great too! I love Chinese food so I definitely loved Hong Kong delicacies.

Lin Heung Tea House near Sheun Wan MTR Station has always been my favorite restaurant to go to everytime I go to Hong Kong. The food here is super good and very traditional. The experience of eating here is worth traveling for. I love this place. Food here is cheap, just check out its FoodPanda profile.

Avenue of the Stars – It’s like the walk of fame in Las Vegas. You can see hand prints of famous Chinese stars such as Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee (just the star, no handprint).

Ocean Park Hong Kong is probably my 2nd favorite touristy place in Hong Kong. The rides here are so fun and the view from the cable car is amazing. I fuck’n love this place! I’ll go back when I can! And yeah they have pandas in there too!!! What’s not to love!!!

Tian Tan Buddha – Tian Tan Buddha, also known as the Big Buddha, is a large bronze statue of Buddha Shakyamuni, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. You can ride a skytrain to see the whole place up in the air. It’s quite cool

Ngong Ping 360 is a cable care ride and is the best mode of transport to see the whole Lantau island from the sky. I truly enjoyed this ride so I’m sure everyone who are not afraid of heights will enjoy it. It is a 25-minute scenic ride that connects Ngong Ping plateau with the town of Tung Chung.

MTR trains are of course better than the ones in the Philippines but not as sophisticated as the Singapore’s MRT. And as always, people here are quiet and barely smiles. 🙂

Buses in Hong Kong are pretty much like every other British Colonized country, they have 2-storey buses. I like their buses. Buses there are quite colorful.

Hong Kong is always a good place to go to take a break, unwind. Hong Kong breaks are like walkathons, you can walk around the city, no problem. It’s definitely one of the places that every Asian should go to.
