Bo-Kaap is a small town in Cape Town which is also known as the Malay Quarter. You definitely won’t miss it especially because it stands out when you walk along the corner of Long street and Strand Steet because of its super brightly colored houses. It’s quite a beautiful sight. Our local tour guide said that the Bo-Kaapers started painting their houses with different colors after the rule of apartheid ended. He said that people wanted to express their emotions and was tired of the color white which was the color of all the houses in Cape Town. It is also linked to the celebration of Eid by Muslim people in the area. So yeah it was pretty interesting. I loved how vivid the colors were! 😍
